Kim was selected by her Congressman to design and paint the 2008 White House Christmas ornament for her District in Arizona. In her 8 years in the White House, Mrs. Laura Bush has coordinated a themed Christmas tree with participation by artists across the United States. The 2008 theme was “A Red, White, and Blue Christmas”. Kim incorporated the western horseman, native american heritage, U.S. flag, and the Arizona State flag and colors into her ornament design.

Kim and her husband Macky attended the Christmas reception at the White House on December 2, 2008 where they enjoyed a catered dinner with fellow artists, a speech by Mrs. Laura Bush, and a private tour of the White House.
