Watercolor painting: technique in which color pigment is mixed with water to create translucent layers of color. Watercolors offer an ethereal, dreamy quality to the paintings, layering color upon color with soft edges.

Pencil drawing: technique in which enclosed graphite is used. Shading is an important aspect of pencil pieces at it determines depth, detail, and perspective.

Oil Painting: technique in which oil paint is mixed with linseed oil to make the paint thinner, and faster or slower drying. The drying oil acts as a binder as the oil-based paint is put onto a canvas using a brush or knife. Oil paintings offer a wide variety of matiere (surface texture).

Pastel: technique in which powdered pigments have been baked into sticks of color. The chalk-like pastels are applied by hand on soft, textured paper to produce a velvet-like texture and soft appearance.
